It took two whole days for the storm to finally pass, Blade had further explored the cave for the whole of those two days. He had been startled to find a burial chamber along with a chamber that was possibly a hold for food. Of course most of that food was long past edible but he did manage to find a small amount of honey that he could enjoy.

He sat just within the cave looking out across the still soggy landscape with a goofy grin on his face. He had fashioned some sort of backpack for himself and after a bit of work, he'd managed to unearth on of the smaller crystals. Although it had burnt his hands badly in the process he now had the gem wrapped up in some spare loincloth and tucked into his makeshift backpack.

The ten year old took a deep breath and after a little bit of thought stepped out of the cave, his feet sank down into the mud but he smirked. After looking up into the blue sky he walked forwards the smirk remaining on his face. Blade wasn't really sure how he planned to train, he just knew that one day he'd unlock the power of the glowing fur.

As he walked he slowed down and listed off a mental check list of what he needed to remember to do while out in the wildlife. 'Okay... I'm going to need to fish for food, collect some fruit for balance and if possible gather up some of those healing herbs...' he nodded to himself satisfied before he stumbled tripping over a rock that he'd failed to see in his path.

He screamed as he rolled down the hill, head over heels finally smacking into a tree right at the base. He blinked for a bit until an egg fell from the branches and landed on his head stunning him. He rubbed his head before glaring at the egg. “Of all the things...” he grumbled before picking it up. He looked up then back down. “I can't harm this... it's a baby, not even born yet...” he murmured before slipping it into his backpack, barely registering that the gem within the loincloth was glowing.

After taking a deep breath he continued to walk taking in the pleasant forest scenery as he went. It really was good to be home, he shook his head and continued to walk the well worn forest path. He was heading for the spring, it was small but covered his needs well enough.

Of course since he was going to be heading out deeper into the more unknown parts of the forest. He sighed and looked at his reflection in the water. The same purple furred, orange billed face stared back, the eyes on looking up the other down. He closed his eyes and splashed the water. Stupid eyes, why was he born that way. He turned to face the sky again, he would never go back, no matter what happened, the forest was his home. The city was no place for someone like him.

Slowly he stood up and tried to even out his breathing. The image of his parents flashed through his mind, the albino platypus and the purple furred one, like him, yet not like him. He gasped and opened his eyes biting back screams of anguish and sadness, they never even looked for him after he ran away. Slowly he turned and walked away from the spring, his mind and heart heavy with painful thoughts and feelings.

Blade looked skywards again and watched as some flickies flew enjoying their freedom. Their lives were so simple. He slowly lowered his head again and some tears slipped away from him and sparkled brightly as they fell through the air. He slowly turned and ran blindly through the forest, even deeper, but in the complete opposite direction to the city he so desperately wanted to avoid. He would never go back, not ever.

He eventually slowed to a stop tears still streaming down his cheeks as he felt kind of like he'd been ripped apart and then put back together without the fixer following the instructions. He collapsed and hugged his knees to his chest, he nearly wanted to call for Accacia but she had betrayed him, at least he felt that way.

He closed his eyes and remembered how she'd encouraged him to talk to his parents, that had been a big waste. He opened his eyes again and watched as the leaves danced in the wind. He watched as some of them broke away and fell down around him. Slowly a small smile lit up on his face, unfortunately been outright objected of by his father had been the last blow to break the walls he'd worked so hard at building.

Slowly he stood back up and took a deep breath in of the forest air. “I will show them... I am strong enough to survive on my own” he growled his eyes alight before he slumped back into a more relaxed pose. “I am tribal...” he whispered rubbing his left arm with his right nervously.

Eventually he just shook his head and turned to continue walking only to give a start as he nearly walked off a sheer drop cliff. He jumped back his eyes wide before he blinked and crawled forwards to look over the edge. There were some grooves in the rock, obviously it had been used once before, but was it safe.

Blade contemplated the situation for a couple of moments before he eventually shook his head. He may be an idiot, but he wasn't that much of an idiot. He turned away from the cliff and look across back into the deeper forest and he sighed. It was going to be a long time before he felt ready to go back again. He walked slowly back into the forest the slanting of the sun in the sky alerting to just how long he'd spent bemoaning himself.

His stomach grumbled and that reminded him that he'd eaten the last of the honey the day before. Now what was he supposed to do, when a splash reached his ears he almost wanted to groan. Of course if he done that who would hear him, only him. He really hated fishing, but he walked over to the stream anyway and watched as some fish glittered in between the rocks of the pool.

Slowly he took a deep breath and readied himself to try and catch one with his bare hands, he was also readying himself for failure. After he remained still for a while he swept his left hand, his good one through the water quickly. To his immense surprise, and relief, he actually caught one of the fish on the first try. With a grin he plopped it into a bucket fashioned from wood and went to go for another one. Only this time he slipped just slightly and ended up lying in the water with a live fish in his mouth. Yeah he really hated fishing.

After drying off he made a fire pit and removed anything that was immediately burnable out of it's range. After searching for a while he came up with some flint rocks and he grinned. He gathered together some sticks and after a couple of goes managed to get a blaze going. It was times like this he wished that he could control an element, any element.

Eventually he had cooked the fish, well more like burned them. Not that he could really help that, he just wasn't good at cooking. Slowly Blade ate the slightly burnt fish and watched as some flickies returned to their nests in the diminishing sunlight. He smiled all of the pain he'd felt earlier was still there but he wasn't going to give in to it, nope he wasn't.

Soon he packed up all his stuff after checking to make sure that the egg he'd picked up earlier was still whole and safe he left. He was still determined to get as far away from the city as possible, this area was still too close to the city limits. He walked increasingly slower, his eyelids dropping as he was exhausted. Eventually he gave way to yawns and decided to curl up at the base of the closest tree and sleep the night long and continue the journey the next day.

The second chapter of my story that stars Blade. In this chapter I am shedding a little bit more light on the circumstances that led to the last chapters existence... I hope that you like it.
